March 2020 Ofsted Rating: OUTSTANDING

It is the third consecutive outstanding report for Hare Hatch Montessori, which was established in 1995 by owner Patricia Cuss.

Housed in Hare Hatch Village Hall on Tag Lane, the nursery has 55 children on role between the ages of 2 and 4, and follows the Montessori philosophy, which holds that all children are natural learners, and fosters independence and creativity. According to the report, Hare Hatch children are keen problem-solvers and lateral thinkers who are “exceptionally well prepared for their move on to school.

Another key Montessori idea is that children thrive with a sense of order – something highlighted as a positive by Ofsted, along with children being kept “exceptionally” safe and playing very well together, both indoors and in the “innovative” outdoor area.

The Ofsted report also notes the nursery’s excellent quality of teaching, and recognises that children are highly motivated to learn and are very eager to join in the rich, varied, imaginative experiences in this purposeful learning environment.

“We are absolutely delighted with this result. To have a third, consecutive Outstanding rating is fantastic and a true reflection of how dedicated the team are to bringing out the very best in each child. This fantastic outcome is also down to the support of our parents, who really contribute to making this a wonderful, nurturing environment.”
